MARIANNE WATTERS SCHOLARSHIP FOR CLINICAL LABORATORY PROFESSIONALS
In keeping with its mission to further excellence in the clinical laboratory sciences, enhance the
professional skills of its members, promote more efficient and productive operations, and represent the
collective interests of laboratory management, the North Texas Chapter of the Clinical Laboratory
Management Association is proud to establish and award the Marianne Watters Scholarships.
Marianne Watters served as Pathology Laboratory Director at Parkland Health and Hospital System from
1980 – 2000. She was a founding member of the North Texas CLMA chapter, serving as Education Vice
President and President. She served as President of the National CLMA organization from 1987 – 1989
received the Sterling Silver Award in 1992. Ms. Watters has served as a speaker for multiple
laboratory conferences, and has been editor/contributing editor for several Laboratory publications. She
has held Board of Directors positions for CLMA and the National Committee for Clinical Laboratory
Science.
These scholarships were established to aid local laboratory students in obtaining the educational
requirements necessary to complete their degree. Two separate scholarships are awarded in the amount
of $600 each. Funds can be applied to any expense incurred while in the pursuit of a clinical laboratory
degree, baccalaureate or associate, at an accredited institution in the North or East Texas area. Qualified
applicants will already have been accepted into a training program in the North Texas area in Medical
Technology, Medical Laboratory Technician, Histotechnology, or Cytotechnology.
